  CURRICULUM

The Martesana Quartet was officially established in 1988.

Their ideology is built on the research of new expressive details through the utilization of wide range of instruments that allows to propose a very large and different repertory.

The use of different combination ( basset horns trio, clarinet quartet, saxophone quartet, etc.) is born from the necessity to create particular sonoursness that allows the hearer to make himself completely involved, recreating the real images and sensations of each moment, both historical, creative or melodical.

In 1993 The Martesana Quartet was the sole Italy's representative who performed at Strasbourg (France) Congress Center, on the occasion of the European Clarinet Days, and also performed some concerts within the Musikmesse in Frankfurt (Germany), not to mention the co-operation the ensemble granted to some Italian theatres and several recordings made for the leading European networks and several prizes win in national and international contests.

It is nowadays regarded as a proper touchstone by similar playing groups. The Martesana Quartet has invited by International Clarinet Association (I.C.A) to perform at the Clarinet Festival in Texas, USA, in 1997 and in Budapest. In 1998 the Martesana Quartet has been invited to perform at the "Beijing International Clarinet Festival" and in 1999 at the Clarinet Festival in Ostenda (Belgio).

The group has recorded two albums, the former featuring a wide range of pieces for clarinet quartet, the latter including two CDs covering W.A.Mozart's repertoire and carried CD out in co-operation with A. Pay.
